Woodland Hills Roofing Installation Solutions
Whether you should repair or replace a roof comes down to its age and condition. All roofing materials have a life expectancy. Our experts recommend proactively replacing a roof as you near that lifespan. If you try to squeeze more life out of a roof, you’re essentially waiting for it to fail. You may also have to replace a roof early if there’s storm damage or extensive deterioration.
Asphalt shingles are the most popular material for roofing installation in our region. We offer basic three-tab shingles, which are among the cheapest roofing materials available. Despite the low cost, they offer excellent performance. That said, we often recommend architectural asphalt shingles. They do cost more, but they can last twice as long and thus provide a lower total cost. Another advantage of architectural shingles is that they’re available in many more colors and designs than their standard counterparts.
A prevalent alternative to asphalt is metal roofing systems and standing seam in particular. An architectural asphalt shingle roof will typically last between 20 and 30 years. An aluminum or galvanized steel metal roof can last 50 years or more. We also install premium metals, such as zinc and copper, which can last 100 years or more.
Cedar is another roofing material that tends to last 50 years or longer in our region. It’s available as uniform shingles but also as shakes for a more rustic appearance. Another advantage of cedar is the way it ages. It’s perhaps the only roofing material that gets more beautiful the older it is.
